Introduction to Quilting (table topper)

Class Description

Are you new to quilting and want to learn the basics. Come to the Introduction to Quilting and make a table runner/table topper - project varies. In this class you will learn to: • Starch and press your fabric • Cut accurately, using a cutting mat and ruler • Sew an accurate ¼” seam • Piece together a simple quilt • Layer and baste your quilt block to make a quilt sandwich • Quilt your quilt sandwich using simple straight lines • Bind your quilt using quick fold-over binding Supply list**: • 3 fat quarters (18"x 22") for quilt top • 1/4 or 1/2 yard of fabric for backing • Cotton thread • Spare needles and bobbins Recommended tools: • 1/4" foot, specific to your machine • 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" square ruler • Pencil We will provide cutting mats and a 6 x 12 inch ruler for each student's work area. We ask that you please provide your own rotary cutters, pins, thread, bobbins, and extra needles. Two irons and ironing boards will be available for shared-use in the classroom. If you would prefer to bring your own iron, I do have several small table-top ironing boards available for use. Don't forget your sewing machine! If you don't have a sewing machine, please let me know ahead of time. I do have a limited number available as needed.
