Woven Snowballs Quilt (Thu-Fri)

Class Description

When you add triangles to the sides of a square block, the block is called a snowball. When you combine these snowballed blocks with a bordered square block, you can create a great a woven design. Learn to make this quilt in the Woven Snowballs Class. In this class, you will learn how to: • Use a rotary cutter and ruler to cut fabric accurately from yardage • Create a snowball block • Sew partial seams • Set a quilt design "on point" • Create and use setting triangles • Use color to show a contrast between fabrics • Add a solid border to the quilt top Supply List: • 3 yards of background fabric • 1 1/4 yard EACH of 2 coordinating fabric for the weave • 1/4 yard of coordinating fabric for` small squares • 3/4 yard of border fabric • 1/4 yard of fabric for binding • 6 ½" square ruler (or larger) I will provide cutting mats and a 6 x 12 inch ruler for each student's work area. We ask that you please provide your own rotary cutters, pins, thread, bobbins, and extra needles. Two irons and ironing boards will be available for shared-use in the classroom. If you would prefer to bring your own iron, I do have several small table-top ironing boards available for use. Don't forget your sewing machine! If you don't have a sewing machine, please let me know ahead of time. I do have a limited number available as needed.
