Class Description
By combining triangles of fabric with diagonal strips, you get a the impression of squares inset upon each other. This quilt goes together quickly using a modified strip the tube method. This quilt layout is more challenging than other jelly roll quilts because all your blocks are cut on the bias. In this class, you will learn how to • Choose a diagonal layout for your quilt • Sew jelly rolls strips into strip sets • Use the strip-tube method to cut your blocks from strips • Multiple techniques in working with bias edges. This is a 4-hour class session, followed by a complimentary open workshop the next day. If you can't make the open workshop the next day, let me know, and you can come to any open workshop. Open workshops are offered the first and third Fridays and the first and third Sundays of every month. Supplies for project: • (1) 20 piece package of jelly rolls or ½ yard each of 4 corresponding fabrics • ½ yard of border fabric • ¾ yard of fabric for triangles I will provide cutting mats and a 6 x 12 inch ruler for each student's work area. We ask that you please provide your own rotary cutters, pins, thread, bobbins, and extra needles. Two irons and ironing boards will be available for shared-use in the classroom. If you would prefer to bring your own iron, I do have several small table-top ironing boards available for use. Don't forget your sewing machine! If you don't have a sewing machine, please let me know ahead of time. I do have a limited number available, as needed.
