Modern Migration (Thu-Fri)

Thursday, June 20, 1p-4p; Friday, June 21, 1p-4p

Class Description

Come unleash your creativity as you create a Modern Migration quilt and learn about the exciting world of modern quilts. This quilt is simple to piece together using long strips of fabric, setting triangles, and a few flying geese. You will learn how to use setting triangles to set a quilt on point as well as how to make perfect 4-at-a-time flying geese. This class will also introduce the history of the modern quilt movement as well as characteristics of modern quilts. Join us and broaden your quilting horizons! This is a 3-hour class and comes with a complementary 3-hour open workshop session, to help you complete the quilt. Supplies for the quilt: • 2 ½ yards of background fabric • ¾ yard EACH of 6 complimentary fabrics • ¼ yard of binding fabric • 12 ½" square ruler (or larger) • 6 ½" square ruler (optional) I have cutting mats and a 6 x 12 inch ruler available for use, but I ask that you please provide your own rotary cutters, pins, thread, bobbins, and extra needles. Two irons and ironing boards are available for shared-use in the classroom. If you would prefer to bring your own iron, I do have several small table-top ironing boards available, upon request. Don't forget your sewing machine! If you don't have a sewing machine, please let me know ahead of time. I do have a limited number available as needed.
